Fairground Cats Project: Greene Co.

Posted by on

With more than 50 unaltered cats and kittens (likely many more) at the local Greene County Fairgrounds, we are spear heading the large TNR project, beginning at the end of September. We were contacted by a local veterinarian’s office to work collaboratively to TNR the large (and always growing) colony. Colony managers (people who feed/water and provide huts/shelter for the feral cats in this location) have been established to provide ongoing care for the cats. Advocates 4 Animals, Inc. will be spaying/neutering everyone in the colony to prevent further population issues. This effort will make a massive impact towards decreasing the number of stray and feral cats/kittens in Greene Co., OH. We are excited to be part of the project!

Those in collaboration with us on the project have titled the effort as, “Fair Chance Felines”. We have created an online fundraising page specifically for this large project at LoveAnimals.

We will be needing LOTS of wet/canned cat food to bait the traps as we spay/neuter everyone…if you are local and would like to donate wet/canned cat food, please email us (Adopt@Advocates4Animals.com)— or you can donate food from anywhere in the world via our Amazon Wishlist, CLICK HERE.

100% of every donation is tax-deductible and goes directly to help the stray/feral cats at the Fairgrounds. Even if you can only donate $5, this is a huge help towards our efforts. With a starting estimate of 50 stray/feral unaltered cats, we are fairly certain many more will come out of the woodwork once the project is underway. Generally when we estimate the size of a colony for TNR, the number of cats can be double (or larger) that originally thought. But we are up to the task!

Donations will be essential for funding the project. We will TNR as funding is raised. Any young kittens involved in the project, we will attempt to socialize so that they can be adopted into loving, forever homes. Stay tuned for regular updates on our social media pages, as this will be an ongoing effort.

As always, thank you so much for your kindness and support! You can make a difference. Every dollar raised helps save lives. We’re thrilled to begin work on the Fairgrounds project!
