Some of our rescues are "Special Needs Cats" - which basically means they will remain with Advocates 4 Animals for the duration of their lives. They don't seem to mind though - with all the special care, treatments and extra attention they get for being special life is pretty good for these cats! Many of our special needs cats came from extremely abusive, neglectful and seemingly hopeless situations before they were rescued by Advocates 4 Animals. While they are unavaliable for adoption due to their special circumstances, they are eligible to be sponsored through our sponsorship program. For a donation of just $100 you can become the proud Virtual Pet Parent of one of our 'Special Needs Cats"- for the duration of their life. You will receive photos and updates regarding your Virtual pet 4+ times per year. In addition, the sponsorship donation will go towards vet care, special dietary needs and even a few toys to make life all that more enjoyable! Check out the below photographs and storie of some of our current "Special Needs Cats".
Hello! My name is Monkey and I was found when I was 3 months old in a very busy downtown area. I could barely stand any longer and was crying for help right by the edge of the busy road - I just wanted someone to love me! I let out one final loud MEOW! And just when I thought no one was ever going to help me, I was picked up by a nice person who took me home, kept me warm and nursed me back to health. I had an unbelievable number of complications - and even refused to eat for a quite awhile. I even stumped the veterinarians as to why I refused to eat- it was speculated that I may have some of the issues that I do because of severe trauma in my past. But the kind people who rescued me wouldn't give up on me- and thank goodness for that! They continued forcing me to eat and finally I got the hang of it! Today, I am on a special diet and love to climb on things ( I guess thats why they call me Monkey!). I require a highly specialized diet and a very specific eating routine-- I'm a very particular little guy! Due to my strange eating habits and my occasional urinary issues, I am a considered "Special Needs" here at Advocates 4 Animals.
Hi there- I'm Ginger. In early 2009, I was living off the land in a apartment complex - and while things were certainly tough there, I was getting by. Then one day I overheard the apartment manager say that me and all of my buddies had to go - and we only had 2 weeks to find another home. I was scared but a nice lady in one of the apartments called Advocates 4 Animals and the nice people there came and rescued me and my 30 brothers and sisters. See, all of us had homes before but it seemed all of our owners would put us outside and then never come back. It wasn't long before there were many more of us than we started with. I was even pregnant when I was rescued. I became a permanent resident at Advocates 4 Animals because I have an injured leg from when a door shut on my arm and I was dangling in the air. My arm looks funny, but I get around great. I also have had all of my teeth pulled and am full of bb's in my body ( I was often used as Target Practice!) But despite everything, I am very happy, energetic and full of many years to come. If you would like to sponsor me I would really appreciate your help! Thank you for reading my story!
Howdy! I'm Mr. Magoo! I had a bit of a rough start to life- and it has left me pretty wobbly in my adult years! You see, when I was just a young kitten I was running around and playing with my other feline friends. We always had a great time together. One day, as I was running around- I ran into a piece of metal and I hit it pretty hard. It knocked me unconcious for quite awhile. After the accident, I could only walk in small circles. I didn't eat, I didn't purr- I just continued to keep my head to the ground and keep circling. I was taken to the vet and the veterinarian recommended that the people have me euthanized! The veterinarian said I would most likely never improve- and I had permanent neurological damange. Lucky for me- I have been rescued by the fabulous people at Advocates 4 Animals-- my prayers were answered just in time! While I do have permanent damange- I live a fantastic indoor life! I am very happy and healthy-- but I'm just a little different than a typical feline. I walk with my head cocked to the side- and my vision is a bit blurred. I don't understand "personal space" and I like to say hello by coming up as close as I can to your face. I love to play with the other cats and with my toys-- and I love to look out the window. I am thankful that I have such good people to watch over me all of the time- because I have no concept of fear or danger- so I often find myself in tricky situations or places! I often run into walls when I am playing- or simply fall off the edge of the couch or a chair as I am lounging-- I just have no sense of balance. But that doesn't stop me! Who says you can't have a good life just because you have a little neurological damange? My life is great- and I love every day. I can't tell you how lucky I am to have been rescued by Advocates 4 Animals. As you can see, I'm a very special guy- It would mean the world to me if you could find it in your heart to sponsor me!
